What if cooking for your family meant facing
death every day?

In many remote places of the world like Africa, it does.

Women in these remote areas -- wanting only to sustain their families -- spend their days searching for firewood and preparing meals at the expense of their safety, time, income, environment, and health.

Problem: Ecological

100 million trees per year are consumed by the rural poor in one particular country of Africa alone, and 25% of worldwide CO2 emissions are generated by land use behaviors of the rural poor. That’s more than all global transportation emissions combined.

Problem: Social

30 or more hours are spent each week by one woman walking 8 or more miles to collect firewood. During this time away from home, she faces threats of theft, beating, and even rape and murder due to the cultural dangers prevalent in this region.

Problem: Medical

4,000 people per day die from respiratory disease related to indoor cooking smoke—that’s more than die from malaria. Women and children also risk becoming blind as a result of cataracts or receiving severe burns due to open fires and cooking smoke.

Problem: Economical

35% of a family’s income is spent on firewood which deprives them of other necessities.

Problem: Spiritual

2 million people of this Islamic nation have never heard the truth of God’s saving grace through Jesus Christ.

Five major problems.  One holistic solution.

High-efficiency cooking stoves.

High-efficiency Cooking Stoves

Why Stoves in Africa?

This new design of efficient, clean cookstoves is simple but powerful. These stoves combine efficient combustion and effective use of heat and airflow for maximum usability and safety. These special features cut down on time and resources—allowing women to spend less money and more time with their families. In addition, this new technology increases quality of life and potentially lifespans...all for only $42 per stove.

But we’re not just interested in bringing them longer earthly lives...we want to introduce them to eternal life in Jesus Christ. Our customer services—such as warranties, training sessions, and regular home visits to track carbon credits—give us multiple entry points into this closed culture to build relationships and share the gospel.

In short, each $42 stove can aid in saving the environment, saving lives, and saving souls.

“Working together from our common desire to honor Christ by loving the poor, we, [Paradigm Project along with East-West], can address physical and spiritual poverty far more effectively than we could ever hope to accomplish alone.” -
Greg Spencer, Founder & Chairman of the Paradigm Project

Join East-West as we launch our newest community development initiative in Africa.  For only $42, you can be a part of the solution.
As the project progresses in East Africa, we will then seek to penetrate other East-West ministry regions with this innovative, life-changing project.
